Our Crewe Story – The Complete Wills Journey
The story of Complete Wills began in 1999, when Jim Goddard, a Trust & Estate Practitioner (TEP) and former Police Officer, founded the business with one simple aim: to help people.
Jim recalls having a vision of people knocking on his door on a cold and stormy night, asking him to help draft a Will for an elderly relative who was about to pass away. While the vision may have been a little dramatic, the sentiment behind it was very real.
He wanted to create a service where people could access friendly, prompt and affordable legal support when they needed it most.
That desire to help people has remained at the heart of the business ever since.
Over the years, Complete Wills and its dedicated team have helped more than 20,000 clients. From simple Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney to inheritance tax planning and more complex family circumstances, the team has worked with people from all walks of life to find solutions that are right for them.
In April 2026, Complete Wills merged with Goddard Dunbar & Associates Ltd. The merger brought together two businesses with a shared commitment to helping people and providing accessible, professional legal services.
Goddard Dunbar & Associates is regulated by the Council for Licensed Conveyancers, ensuring that our clients are served and protected within a regulated environment.
Today, the Complete Wills team forms part of the wider Goddard Dunbar family, continuing to provide trusted advice to clients across Crewe and beyond.
Supporting Our Local Community
Being part of Crewe means being part of the local community, and we are proud to support organisations that work hard to help local people.
One organisation particularly close to our hearts is St Paul’s Centre, based right here in Hightown, Crewe.
Since 1986, St Paul’s Centre has been making a real difference to people in our community. Its services include a foodbank, furniture scheme and footwear support, helping individuals and families who are facing difficult circumstances.
We are proud to support St Paul’s Centre with a monthly donation to its foodbank. The foodbank provides emergency food parcels to people experiencing hardship, working through a referral system with organisations including housing support officers, social services and GPs.
The work carried out by the team at St Paul’s Centre is incredibly important. In the first quarter of 2025 alone, the foodbank provided emergency food parcels to more than 350 households, equivalent to more than seven tonnes of food.
We are proud to support an organisation doing such valuable work for people in our local community.

Coats 4 Christmas
We are passionate about supporting people experiencing homelessness and those facing difficult circumstances, which is why we launched our Coats for Christmas campaign.
Now in its second year, the campaign brings together businesses, professional contacts and members of the public across Staffordshire and Cheshire. Local businesses and organisations act as drop-off points, allowing members of the public to donate pre-loved winter coats.
The coats are then collected and distributed to homeless charities and organisations supporting people in need across Stoke-on-Trent and the surrounding areas.
In 2023, C4C’s first year running, we we able to provide 500 coats to those in need. The response to our 2024 campaign was incredible. Together with our business friends, referrers and members of the local community, we collected 711 winter coats for those who would’ve otherwise gone without. Recently, in 2025, we achieved the collection of 977 coats!
We are incredibly proud of what the campaign has achieved and grateful to everyone who donated a coat, hosted a collection point or helped spread the word.
